I’m not going to dish out my woes of the week, but trust me when I say I have had an unusually hard week. To top it off I was quite sick Sunday through Tuesday. What is a girl to do when she is stuck on the couch for a few days? This one spent a good about of time in Blog Land. As I lay on my couch with my two best friends, my Mac Book and Asher, I had to stare at this. The left over Christmas/winter decor that had not quite made it down yet.
I was inspired by Melissa at The Inspired Room’s post on leaning.
Monogramed T!
I also took a little inspiration from another part of the room shown here. I took every thing down off the mantle, even my fabulous tin wall tile! I did then dust off the mantle…ugh I am the worst duster! I started gathering objects I had stored up during the holidays and that were in various other places in the house. I also went out to my garage and raided my supply of “rescued by the side of the road windows”….. I have not even washed them yet!

I just started piling it all up on the mantle, leaning away. I think I got it right. But, guess what? I still have not taken the window down to clean it like I thought I would after playing!
After
So, here is the after! I must say I was quite pleased at the end result. The best part of the whole thing is that it did not cost me anything! I love FREE makeovers! It really perked me up to have a change of scenery in this room! So, thank you Melissa for inspiring me to LEAN, I did not use a single nail either!
How were you inspired this week?

love the change! who cares that the window is dirty?
Love that!! Love the Christmas mantle with the centerpiece made of the ribbon even more…that is amazing. Where did you get the idea for that!? I’ve never seen anything like it!
That is really cute! I need to change some things up for the spring. I just love seashells and old found things that are new to me.
YAY! I am sorry you had a bad week but look at you, creating something lovely out of stuff you already had! Great job!
so sweet! I love it!
absolutely love it! sorry you had a rough week, but now you have something lovely to look at
What adorable details!
m ^..^
I love how you propped the window up there. I have an old window in my basement that I have been wanting to you SOMEWHERE. What a great idea. I also love all of the shells and starfish beneath the cloche. It’s really fresh and beautiful.
This is my first visit to your lovely blog via Kimba’s Soft Place to Land. I love the ocean and have lived on the shore my entire life so I am especially drawn to your mantel. I love the use of showing off your shell collection in apothecary jars and showcasing under a covered cake stand.

Hi Mary Jean, beautiful mantlescape!
Pretty! Love the colors you used. So fresh looking.
Love it all, but the window is perfection. You did a great job, thanks for the inspiration.
Cha Cha
BEAUTIFUL! I lean a lot of items now. Love the layered look too. I’m hunting an old window for my mantel. I already have one on the wall.
I love the touches of Robins egg blue. Beautiful! :O)
Love it! You did a great job. I really liked hoe you but the pictures and the “T” in the windows.
What a great mantle! I really like the starfish layered in front of the barn star & the egg prints especially! Looks so pretty

Hi, Nutty Girl! When I was growing up my mom’s pet name for me was squirrel bait…it took me a while to figure out what she was getting at
Anyway love your mantel, my mantel also was a free makeover, I just dug everything I used out of the tool shed, gotta love free!
So pretty with the crystal, white and blue! I also love the painted wood detail above your mantel…really sets off the display. Come say hi!
I really like all the little details. I’m a “leaner” too.
My mantel doesn’t have one nail.
Hello from a fellow “leaner”
Leaning architectural decor + light blue accents = Bliss!
Visiting from The Nester’s Mantel party.
I love leaning. You achieved the lean. It’s beautiful. I only have a ledge. But I leaned pebbles on it. And I didn’t spend a cent either. Those are the most fulfilling makeovers. Hope you’re feeling better!!! Your home is lovely!!!
Having a couple of days home sick sure paid off in the inspiration stakes. Well done, you have styled a delightful mantle for the family to enjoy.
It looks great! I love using stuff I already have. They can look totally different when placed somewhere else. Thanks for sharing.
Oh, I love free makeovers like this, too! And you did a FAB JOB on your mantle! It is so beautimous. I’m lovin’ the color scheme, too! <3
