Remember this $10 yard sale table I rescued?

laundry room folding table!

I painted and glazed it and put it back together {minus the leaves} and now use it as a folding table in my laundry room.

I still had the two leaves and have been waiting to do something with them. Of course they needed to be painted and dressed up. I thought I would share the super easy process with you…

Table Collage

1. Sand down what you are painting, and then apply two coats of paint. I use a latex satin enamel, and one of my favorite go with everything colors is Benjamin Moore Cameo White.

2. I usually {well not always!} wait 24 hours for the paint to dry, and then I take a medium grit sandpaper and sand down the edges to make it appear worn. You know, we have all seen this look!

3. Brush on the Glaze. I used Valspar Raw Umber. It is a chocolate brown looking glaze. As soon as I had the piece covered {you don’t want to wait to long, so do it in sections if you are doing a large piece} in glaze, I used a rage to wipe off the glaze. The exposed wood takes on the glaze color. You determine how much glaze you want to leave behind.

4. Here is the final table leaf all painted and glazed!

I’m in love with words and signs all over the house, so I turned the boards into decorative wall art for my family and my friends family.  I’m fortunate to have Fontastic Expressions able to crank out all my vinyl needs. I may be able to paint walls and furniture, but not letters or words!  I’m so in love with the “N” in the font I chose.

Love your creativity! Fabulous work! I wish I could luck up and find some of those “yard sale” finds. You have inspired me to get myself up early on Saturday mornings this spring and summer to find some of my own “yard sale” steals!

Thanks!~

You make it look so easy? Do you use a sander or hand-sand? Jane F.
