Last weekend I went to a party in some friends new home. The second I stepped in I was IN LOVE with their freshly painted stairs! They had the most beautiful stair way and each step was painted black along with the banister. The rest of their house was fabulous too, but I kept going and looking at the stairs several times. Why didn’t I take a picture? Kicking myself for that!
This one from Country Living will have to do for now. Look at those stairs and that black railing!

Here is a view of my current stair case. I think you know where I am going with this. Yes, I’m obsessing {my poor husband!} over painting my stairs and banister black! What do you think?

i knew when i saw the words “painted stairs” where you were going. you’ve wanted to do that for a LONG time. seems like alot of work to me…but if you’re up for it…go ahead! take a pic. don’t tell “d” i said to do it!

I too painted my treads and banister black……….but I was also told by a decorator to paint the insides of the treads black as well…….now I am wondering if this was the right decision

I too want to paint mine black. But most of the photos I see all have white spindles. I have iron like you do. Have you done this project?
How does it look with the dark iron spindles? My husband is nervous that it will all look to dark. (our risers and trim will be white)
